Narrative

Ethel and Edwin were married in 1911; she had never previously married, and he had one previous marriage several years prior that ended in divorce after less than three months. They relocated sometime after their marriage to Buffalo, Erie Cty, New York, where Edwin worked as a clerk. By 1930, Edwin was living alone in Buffalo, working a factory job, while Ethel had moved back to Fort Wayne, Allen Cty, Indiana to live with her mother and brother and work as a dining room manager at a local hotel. In the 1940 US Census, after the death of her mother, Ethel was living with the Zeig family in Fort Wayne, working as their maid.
