Herman E. Collins, 75, 207 N. Waugh St., died Friday at 6:45 p.m. in the National Nursing Home, following a lingering illness.

Born Feb. 25, 1896 in Irvin [sic] Twp., he was the son of James and Martha (Coy) Collins. On March 17, 1923, he married Tessa Stonebraker, who survives.

He had lived in Kokomo all his life retiring from the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. in 1961. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the Army, a member of the American Legion, Post 6 and the Metal Polishers, Local 24.

Surviving with the widow is one son, Richard Herman Collins, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Mary Lou) Deschamps and Mrs. Floyd (Patricia) Wooley, both of Kokomo and Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Howard, Wabash; one sister, Mrs. Opal Wells, Kokomo and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Ellers Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Franklin Arthur of Winamac officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home- from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday before noon.
