Rudolph H. (Rudy) Hollett 64, former city fireman and a veteran of World War 1, died at 6am Friday November 27, 1953 at his home. He lived at 742 South Jefferson St. where he had lived for the past 22 years. He had been a resident of Huntington City since he was two years old.
Born July 17, 1889, in Monument City to James and Cecelia Martin Hollett, his marriage was to Edith Cass on August 8, 1913 in Detroit Michigan. Mrs Hollett survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Smeltzer, this city: a grandaughter, Mary Lucille Smeltzer: two sisters, Mrs. Jack Rowen of Spart Mich. and Mrs Frank Sprong, Livermore Iowa, and a brother, Samuel Hollett of St. Petersburg Fla. A daughter, Doris E. Hollett preceded him in death.
Mr Hollett had retired from the fire department in 1948, following a heart attack. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 7, the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 2689, and the Moose Lodge.
The body was removed to the Bailey Mortuary where friends may call and where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday with the Rev. Robert T. Morris officiating.
Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
