Narrative

Note: Immigration of the Hübner family

I have not yet found a specific immigration date or record for the Hübner family. Some of the initial information I had for this branch of the family came from Frank Hebner's website on the genealogy of the Hübner/Huebner/Hebner family, in which he noted that Sophia had first married Carl Heinrich Hübner and that he'd died less than a year and a half into their marriage (after the birth of their daughter Hanna MariaAlbertina Hübner). Another year later, she married Carl's younger brother Ernst August Michael Hübner. Ernst died some thirty years later, in 1891, prior to the family's emigration to America.

The earliest record I can find for the family is her son Wilhelm's marriage record in 1897 in Paulding Cty, Ohio. The earliest date given in Frank's posted work is the death of Ernst and Sophia's daughter Anna Sophia Emilia Hübner in Worstville, Paulding Cty, Ohio, in April of 1893. This would suggest that Sophia and some of her children left Pommern sometime after the death of Ernst and likely came sometime in 1892.

Not all of her children came with her to America - her daughter from her first marriage remained behind, as did two of her older children from her second marriage. It appears that five of her surviving children came with her, settling primarily in Ohio and Michigan.
